Elections & Financial Planning

  • By Marlene Large
  • In Blog, Financial Planning, Live Your Best Life, Personal Finance

Isn’t it interesting that when we get under stress, we often shut down? Much like an armadillo encircled in itself trying to hide. We find ourselves in a stressful situation, and we do nothing! What sense does that make?

I believe that in the middle of stress is the time you should make sure you are organized, invested appropriately, on track, and intentional about your success. I have so many people saying, “I am not going to do anything until after the election.” That is NOT a winning strategy! To win, you need to play. You need to prepare yourself, and you need to be in a position to do the best you can, no matter what happens. Whether it’s an election or an unexpected turn of events—whatever it is—you can’t control most of the things that cause you to worry and shut down.

But you can control what you do, you can control how prepared you are, you can look at your emergency funds, you can look at your cash flow, and you can look at your risk tolerance.

You can be prepared.

What’s interesting is there are probably things that will happen in our life that are way more substantial to our success than an election. Yet we let the election control us. No matter what your beliefs are, you may win or lose next week. But that doesn’t mean you lose in life! That does not mean you lose control of what you can control.

So let’s focus on what we can control:

  • Your Goals
  • Emergency Fund
  • Cash Flow
  • Budget
  • Risk Tolerance
  • Being Financially Prudent
  • Estate Plan
  • Your JOY!

These are all things you can control, and if you do well, you will be better than the vast majority of people out there. So today, focus on taking control of what you can. Put probability of success on your side by being intentional about the things you are in control of and do not let the things you can’t control dictate your personality, your actions, and most importantly, your joy!

You will have a happier life if you focus on what you can control and minimize the rest.

So, don’t worry. If you are doing what it takes to be your best financially, I believe tomorrow will be a great day!

Let’s have a great day! Be positive!

Schedule an appointment with us today so tomorrow you too can be Financially Ready!
