Who Owns Today?
Who owns today?
We often give our day up to those we don’t know. We look at Facebook, TV, or some form of media. We may not know whose agenda we are hearing, but we still let it impact our day. They tell us how bad today is, how bad our world is, how bad our neighbor is. But is it?
My life is good. I often walk to the office a few miles away and find that most people respond when I say hi. Many people are willing to have a nice conversation with me. The more people I talk to, acknowledge, and have some interaction with, the more positive my day tends to be.
Yet, if I turn on social media, my day becomes filled with things that are thousands of miles away but seem to weigh me down. Which brings us back to our point, who owns your day? You or someone else. The difference between a good day and a bad day is attitude. Will your own attitude control your day, or will you let someone else’s perspective and thoughts influence your mindset?
Whether we have a good or bad day is a battle of attitudes. Our daily philosophy translates to whether we have a good or bad life. So, let’s start now and be positive about what we have, who we are, and the opportunity we enjoy.
There are so many phenomenal things that we have today that 50 years ago did not exist. But sometimes we let our lives get so complicated, so full of things that we think we must have, that we don’t take time to enjoy the important things: ourselves, our spouse, our family, and our community. I am not so Pollyannish that I think things are perfect. But I see more positive than negative things when I have a good attitude. A positive perspective lets you see the birds singing and the clouds floating by. It allows you to enjoy people, even those who are different in how they dress, think, or believe.
Our philosophy allows us to be a positive energy to the world. Someone else’s attitude is trying to destroy that positive energy in both our lives and others. Let’s own our attitude! Let the positive energy the world needs shine through today.
Start owning your days today!
Sincerely,
